Quick Question and an FYI

Sorry to use "FYI" on the weekend, nobody wants to be reminded of work :)

So I was at the home Depot today and I was looking for Nylon brushes for cleaning my guns. Well I found a three pack of brushes, 1 nylon, 1 stainless steel and 1 brass. My question, are the stainless and brass ones ok to use for cleaning? The brushes are two sided on the head, one large and one small set of brissles and were under 4 dollars. That was the FYI part.

Thanks.

I find lots of uses for a small brass-bristled brush in cleaning guns. As long as you don't get carried away it won't hurt the bluing, and is obviously too soft to hurt the steel. Stainless steel, on the other hand is very hard stuff, and I wouldn't allow a stainless brush of any kind to touch my guns.

steel on steel is not a real good idea

plays hell with the finish too, not to mention the bore. The others are fine.

Brass yes. You have to be careful with stainless steel, though, as you can scratch the hell out of your bluing if you're not careful.
