quick question about 870 syn stock fit

i just removed my wood stock from my rem 870 and replaced it with a synthetic one. now there is a gap between the buttstock and the receiver. am i missing a spacer?

How big is the gap? You may have the wood stock spacer still in place. Most wood stocks have a steel spacer between the receiver and the stock. If it's still there, there may be a poor fit with the synthetic stock, since the synthetic doesn't use the spacer.
