Who makes the latest version of the Rossi "gallery gun"? I saw one today but can`t recall. What do they sell for?

Taurus is now producing it, although it now includes a p.c. "safety". I believe they're going for $160 in my neck of the woods.
 
I think the Rossi and Taurus may be slightly different but they`re both neat little rifles. Dinosaur, I dunno if you remember but the stainless pump .22 with the Optima dot sight that you shot at the last TFL shoot was a Taurus. Fun gun! :) Marcus

stainless. The guy wants $200 for it. I think that`s high.
 
Marcus, tell me about the optima sight. I have a Taurus 62 and have been trying to find a replacement for the stock rear sight.
 
Dinosaur that Taurus was like $240 new, I think the Rossis go a bit cheaper.
AteaM, the Optima on the Taurus is slick! It belongs to a relative who`s eyes are just old enough that he has a hard time focusing on the sights and target at once. He wanted to scope it but Taurus hadn`t brought out the mount yet and he also hated to ruin it`s light,quick handling characteristics. He had an Optima 2000 on a Ruger 22/45 and liked it a lot so I suggested mounting an Optima on the Taurus using the rear sight dovetail just like they do on pistols. No one made a mount for it so I called Evolution Gun Works and told em what we wanted to do. They said no sweat drop the rifle off and they`d make one. A few weeks later it was done, they machined up a custom super low profile mount,anodized it silver to match the stainless gun and mounted the Optima all for $60!!! It works really well. It didn`t change the weight or balance at all and sighting it super fast. Accuracy isn`t scope good but it`s way better than with the iron sights. It`s great fun for bouncing cans accross the backstop. :D Marcus
 
Seeing the title of this thread "quick .22's" made me want to post about my Rossi Gallery gun right away!!!!


It is one of the fastest firearms I own, and I own quite a few!!
The Rossi is a good copy of the old Winchester Mod. 62 rifle. It is much faster than my Marlin Mod. 60 .22.

I love the darn gun......

Marcus, how did you get around that annoying safety on top of the receiver ? If the mount got rid of that I'm calling Evolution Gun Works tommorow.
 
Sorry,it doesn`t get rid of the safety. It mounts the Optima in the rear sight dovetail,kinda scout rifle style. As for the superflous safety,I don`t think it`s been on since he got it. He just switched it to off and forgot about it. It would look cleaner without it though. Marcus
