Questions regarding new purchase

This past Saturday I stopped by the local gun shop to browse the merchandise. I happened upon a glossy blued revolver with a pencil thin six inch barrel. I had never seen this model of revolver before and after handling it I had to have it. So for $350 I am the new owner of a S&W M1905 in .38 special. I am not sure if the price I paid is high but for its condition, only a little wear on the blueing underneath the barrel, I feel satisfied. It is my understanding that this is basically an early model 10. Can anyone estimate the year that it was manufactured. The serial number is c4245xx. Also, can +p ammo be fired in it or should I just stay with standard pressure ammo?
