Questions on CZ 75 Compact...

Found them NIB at $389. Is that a good price? Are 13rd STANDARD capacity mags readily available for them as with the regular CZ 75? Thanks.

That is about the best I have seen them for on cost in SGN. You may have a bit better luck if you make some phone calls but wont bet on it. I have seen the mags in adds for under 20 bucks but not sure if they are any good. CZ-USA does carry them but at almost 50 bucks a mag. I have been thinking about getting one myself. It is not what I call a compact gun but it is a bit smaller than my full size CZ. What ever you do pay will be worth the money though,as they do not stand second to anything at twice the cost. :)

On CDNN and preban CZ75 Compact mags, make sure you specify that you want the mags with the cuved base plate. I bought some and they sent me mags with the flat base plate. Only the ones with the curved base plate are genuine factory, the other kind are Tanfoglio.

I like the Compact, but make sure it fits your hand. I had a bad experience with one. No matter how I gripped it I would always work the slide lever up and cause the slide to lock back on a loaded mag. I think it had to do with the shape of the lever, changed radically from the original CZ75s. The guide rod quickly lost the chrome plating too. After one range visit it began to peel off. Lastly the hammer was a rust magnet. I would clean it with CLP and add a light coat of grease, and still a day later it would start to show signs of corrosion.

If you do get one, Alessi makes holsters for them. Although they're heavy for daily work, they should ride comfortably in something like a Talon Plus.

If you can get one made in 1993 or 1994, they were introduced in 1993. The ones I've seen from those years are tight, and they look to be hand fitted. The one I disliked was accurate, very accurate. Too bad about the slide lever, because the thing could drive tacks.

I owned a TZ75 Compact for a while and my impression was that it was very heavy for its size and did not function well. I believe the CZ75 and TZ75 pistols are about the same size and weight. I have also read of reliability problems with the CZ75 Compact. Regards, Richard.

Have a cz-75 compact made in 94. Very accurate, reliable and shot to point of aim without any sight adjustment. The curved base plate mags hold 13 rds, the flat base one i had briefly held 12. Last time i checked cz and cdnn, no 13 round factory mags available. Personally purchased the last ones had seen advertised. The factory 13 rounders are rare and hard to locate. Factory 15 rounders will fit (sticking out of grip) and function, ten rounders are easily avilable. Would advise ya to actually handle one of these models before you purchase, the trigger reach is long and the single action let off is not like a 45. The hammer moves back before letting off.

The extended guide rod is very useful if you put heavier recoil spring in it. Like the black finished ones (easier to maintain grip), all the newer CZ blued models have seen did not have good surface prep (polishing) before it was blued.

Like this pistol very much, although the all steel models are kinda heavy and would have to re-evaluate purchase if limited to 10 rd mags.
