Questions on CS9 / CS40

I'm aware of the political issues with S&W, no need to go into that in this thread please. :)

Anyone know the height and width of these guns?

The S&W site lists only the length.

While I'm at it, what does "TDA" under "type of action" mean?

What type of hammer does it have? Is the safety a decocker as well?

Thanks!

From my experience, yes, the safety is a decocker as well & the hammer is bobbed. Not sure about the measurements you requested, hope someone else can help you w/ that.

TDA=Traditional Double Action

Meaning:1st shot is double action all the shots after that are single-action until empty or de-cocked.

The safety is also a de-cocker.

Height and width----not sure----but very small for the CS9----the .40 and .45 get progressively thicker(mostly front to back-not side to side) in the grip---the only one that felt good to me was the CS9---the others were too fat.

As far as the size..I compared a CS to my 3953 and Kahr K40
The CS is the same gun as my 3953 with the length cut down and the grip housing length being about 1/2" shorter. Its the same frame thickness everywhere else....IMO, great size just too thick especially in the grip. Shoot well

Thanks guys.

What I'm thinking of doing is replacing my beloved P239 with something else for carry - a 1/2" off each end and a tad slimmer would go a long way.

But the main reason is that, as one gains weight (fixing that is my other project) the inside edge of the hammer on my Sig can get pretty sharp when I sit down (carry at 1 o'clock). There is no way to get it down all the way.

I was at a local show and played with what I am almost sure was a CSxx and it sure seemed slimmer. Was in a rush so couldn't learn more about it.

I believe the Sig 239 may be the most if not one of the most accurate carry guns in it's size class. Hang on to it. You will be disappointed in the way the CS shoots versus the Sig I gah-rone-tee ya. I sold mine in what was one of my many idiotic impulse moves.

I was looking at them in early 2000. I wanted to get the CS45. I just didn't fit my hand well at all. Seemed really fat. I passed on it.

It is a de-cocker and TDA means bobbed hammer as discussed above.

Hmm, then maybe I'm in trouble... :D

I like my Sig because its a friendly, quality, reliable gun IMO. But my accuracy is pretty bad with it - meaning just acceptable at < 10yds, which is really all I care about with this particular gun...

Nevermind the S&W.

I just went out and got a NAA 380 for those times when my Sig can't come with me.

The thing comes with two magazines, one of them has a rubber toe that makes a HUGE difference.

But no doubt, all of these baby guns are a compromise. Not particularly fun to shoot.

In my case the NAA seemed like a reasonable compromise, hope it works out OK after lots of more rounds.
