Questions on a couple of revolvers

Hi folks,

I'm new to the forum and would appreciate any feed back. I recently aquired several pistols from an estate sale and when I paid my money I couldn't leave fast enough. I think I did quite well. I'm curious to what these 2 pistols may be worth. I know it's difficult without seeing them, but kind of ball park me.

First: Colt 357 Python, model 13060, made in 1981. New in it's original carrying case, stainless steel, 6" barrel, factory rubber grips, lock. Never fired.

Second: Dan Wesson 357 Mag pistol pack, in original carrying case, all 4 barrels, three are still wrapped with factory paper. Sites, gun tool, and Dan Wessen patch...No belt buckel. Never fired.

Both guns look 100% to me. Your help is appreciated.

I'll take a stab at it. Not really a Colt man but your Python might be worth $700 or better. Most of the nice blued models I see around here are wearing tags of about $1000 or so. With rubber grips and in stainless steel your might or might not be worth as much. The Wesson set up I'd have to figure is worth $500 or better though it depends on which model and when/where it was made? The Wessons made in Monson, MA seem to be better quality and perhaps more sought after. HTH

PS Look at a few auction sites and see if you can locate similar guns that sold. If it were me I'd sell the Python and spend the money on ammo for the DW and shoot the ever lovin outta it :)

Thanks RS,

I would have assumed the opposite in that selling the DW and keeping the Python would be they way to go. Always good to get another opinion.

I'll do further research. Just real hard tracking the Dan Wesson.

Thanks for the info.

My line of thinking was the Python would bring the most money but the Dan Wesson would bring the most fun. All those different barrels would provide lots of shooting enjoyment and you wouldn't really be lowering the value that much buy using it. That Python on the other hand will never be worth what it could be once you pull the trigger. I couldn't avoid the temptation :)

As I've often said,

Dan Wessons are for shootin' and accumulatin' not collecting. The Model 15 Pistol Pack depending upon market $400 to $500. If you're looking for a superb shooter you got one.

As to the Python, my 3 year old Blue Book puts it in the $950 to $1000 range. I'm willing to bet you could get a couple of hundred on top of that if you're patient and find the right buyer.

Take Care

Appreciate the feed back...

Did some checking and found a couple of Pythons described like mine from $1,000 to $1649 (flipped me out) on gunsamerica.com and the DW at $600 to $750.

I'm dying to unpack them both and check them out. The more I look at them the less I want to part with them, especially the Colt. I think it's a keeper.

I have 4 other 357's (S&W) I can always unload,;) so to speak. Wife say's too many guns. So I'll sell one.

Thanks for the imput guys.
