Questions about zip guns?

What stops the casing from traveling backwards towards the shooter?
Isn't the pressure generated by the cartridge powerful enough to pop open the casing?
What possible malfunction could cause people to loose their fingers?
why are most zip guns built specifically to shoot rimmed cartridges?
 
Has to fit real tight there and use a 22 shell, bigger could hurt the shooter. IMHO

we used to make these a long time ago. Dangerous to say the least. Buy a real gun and fuggettaboutit
