Questions about Glock 21

I am interested in buying a Glock 21.I have never owned one but I have fired one.I loved the feel and the size did not bother me.Are these pistols reliable? Are they accurate enough for occasional competition shooting.

If the size and feel are right, then get it! The 21 is wonderfully accurate in my experience, far more than I would have expected from a service pistol. It outshot my brother's custom 1911.

As for reliability, I've heard of them blowing up (as with any pistol/revolver) but never breaking down.

Glocks have a well deserved reputation as being reliable and rugged. As for accuracy, they are more than adequate for all but the extremely talented shooter- and modifications can be made, as with any other competition pistol.

You will never regret buying a G-21. Very accurate out-of-box, very durable, extremely reliable, low felt recoil, very simple to break down and clean, etc., etc... I got an M3 Tact Illuminator for it-slides right on access. rail. Did I tell you that I love my G-21?
knox-if you are referring to K-Booms- the very few reported instances were caused by extremely hot reloads, not a problem with the gun. Later,SC

I have a Glock 21 on my duty belt as we speak, with night sights on it. You won't be sorry, the only thing close to a Glock is a 1911...7th

I've had my 21 since '94 and I love it. I'm not trying to make your decision harder, but I gotta tell you... I recently bought a model 30 (compact version of the 21) and it's incredible! Much more concealable than my 21, and with the pearce grip mag extensions, it's every bit as comfortable. It still holds a full 10 rounds (with optional 9 rounders too) and if you really want to spend $100/each for pre-ban 13rd 21 mags, they will fit the 30 too - you can even get grip extensions that slip on the 21 mags like a sleeve and give you a full size grip as well. Here's the kicker - my 30 outshoots my 21!! On my last trip to the range, at 25yds, after going through 2 boxes (100rds) of 230gr FMJ, I had a 2" wide, 4" tall hole in the target centered horizontally, and slightly right of the center, but all between the X and the 8 ring, with only one "flyer" out in the 6. On my best day, I couldn't do that with my 21. The position of the group was a little to the right because my dealer installed trijicons needed a little nudge. Either way, you'll love it, but do yourself a favor and check out the 30 before you buy.

The Glock 21 is my favorite handgun of all.

Unlike John Overbey, I shoot better with my 21 than my 30! I won some informal NRA bullseye style pistol matches with my 21 and really torqued some of the expensive 1911 boys. To be fair, nobody who showed up seemed to have the "bullseye" mentality.

In bowling pin matches, I cleared 5 pins off the table (NOT just knock them over, I mean they start at the near edge of the table and you try to knock them clear off the far edge of the table) faster with my 21 than my 30 by a small but consistent time: something like 0.5 seconds total difference between the 21 and 30 for clearing 5 pins. Put another way, say my total time with the 21 averaged 5.2 seconds, with the 30 I averaged 5.7 seconds. Not really a whole lot of difference.

Of course, the fun way is buy BOTH!! :D

Goat,
I love my 21. It is more accurate than I am.

The one thing that I have found is that after extended range sessions or in class, my hands started to sweat. This caused what was a secure grip while dry to become not so secure. If you buy the 21 and have this problem you can get something called Agrip which is sort of a wrap that goes around the handle. It really helped me maintain the same grip while firing repeated shots without having to readjust my grip. This is only an issue that comes up after my hands get sweaty though.
