A lot of red flags go up for me when I read about the Justice Department's explanation of what they were trying to do with The Fast and Furious program.
Apparently they put GPS trackers in the guns and were going to try to nab the straw purchasers before the guns went across the border? Where would they even put a GPS tracker on a gun that a straw purchaser wouldn't notice? How could they insure that the purchaser would buy those particular guns that would be tracked to begin with? Were the guns sold through traditional gun shops, and wouldn't the gun shops know there were GPS trackers on the guns?
Does anyone have some links to point me to, or some insight into what the government claims was the point behind the program? I mean, my instinct is that they wanted those guns across the border, and only got caught with their pants down when someone blew the whistle. But I'd like more specific details about the program and what can be proven before I settle on that conclusion.
