Question

Yesterday I bought my first bolt action rifle in years, a little CZ carbine in 7.62x39. Today I shot it. After four shots the bolt jammed and the extractor fell off. I eventually got the spent case out of the gun but I could not remove the bolt. It would move. It just wouldn't come out. Having virtually no experience with bolt actions, I'd appreciate any insight as to what happened here and how common the prolem is.

I'm definately not a big fan of this style rifle, but I always give every gun a fair chance, if possible. How seriously did you clean it before you shot it? The first cleaning, the one before you shoot is probably the most important one your rifle will ever get. beertrucker-x

Could also be a tight chamber. A friend bought a Yugoslav made (pre-civil war) Mauser 98 in .223. His did the same thing and he was very disappointed with it. Take it to the gunsmith you bought it from and ask him to headspace it.
