Question to clarify the removal of dimples on the magazine of a new 870

Ok, got my new 870 Magnum Express. Completely dissasembled gun. The magazine tube has two dimples, one on each side of the magazine tube. The barrel mount ring goes over/covers these dimples. If I used a dremel to remove these two dimples there will be two oval shaped holes in the magazine tube. I cannot see any other way of removing these dimples.

Is this correct? If this is correct any tips on the most effective way or easiest way of reaming, cutting or drilling them out?

Yep, those are the two methods - drill 'em out or press 'em out.

Easier, without special tools, is by far drilling... But if you don't wanna mar the nonfunctional/hidden surface of your gun, they've gotta be pressed out. If you can find a smith who'll do it for $25.00 - that's a great deal!

Thanks for the input everyone. $45-$50 for a local Gunsmith to do it, I almost went that route. I decided to drill the dimples then smooth and polish. Quite easy to do, very little marring and the gun seems to cycle through the magazine tube fine. Will test further when the new stock and forearm arrives.
