I was reading over packing.org and as I understand it is legal in both of these states to carry a loaded gun in the glove box of your car even without a permit. If this correct? I am a VA permit holder.

Going on a road trip next week.

It's legal here in Georgia to have a loaded firearm in open view in your vehicle or secured in a console, glovebox (similar location), no under the seat or stuff like that. Big No No here. Of course I'm sure you know that the trunk is acceptable too. It's not required but I STRONGLY reccomend it that if you have a firearm concealed in your vehicle that you declare it to law enforcement if pulled over ASAP. Cops here are cool if you are honest. Most of the time they won't ask to see it.

This info is pretty reliable http://www.packing.org/state/georgia/

One thing that alot of people make a mistake when they come here and will get you in huge trouble. There is NO OPEN CARRY in Georgia without a license. A license to carry a firearm is a license to carry (open or concealed). Just don't do it.

Don't know alot about SC maybe someone from there will Chime in. I do know they don't honor my Georgia Permit.

If you are legally transporting a loaded handgun in your glove compartment in GA, what would be your motive for bringing that to a l.e.o.'s attention, assuming that you had no reason to retrieve anything from the glove compartment? If he asks, tell him; otherwise, what business is it of his?
