Question regarding TN and NC laws

For my daughter's 22nd birthday this year, I payed for her concealed carry permit and bought her a concealed carry purse for her S&W Model 36. Next week, she will be driving alone from Kentucky to Ashville, NC, via I-75 and I-40. Although both TN and NC have reciprocity with KY, I would appreciate it if someone could educate us on the regs regarding (a) carrying a loaded handgun in the car in transit through both of these states and (b) actually carring at her destination in Ashville, NC. Thanks in advance.

Don't worry about tennessee. If she gets stopped here she only has to show her permit if asked. Its legal to carry in vehicle. Try Packing. org for the actual laws.

It helps to pay particular attention to the places where carry is not allowed. This varies from state to state. for instance the packing.org site hase this information about NC:
Events Occurring in Public:
It shall be unlawful for any person participating in,
affiliated with, or present as a spectator at any
parade, funeral procession, picket line, or
demonstration upon any private health care
facility or upon any public place owned or under the control
of the State or any of its political subdivisions to
willfully or intentionally possess or have immediate access
to any dangerous weapon. §14-277.2

Tennessee has this:
On the grounds of any public park, playground, civic center or other building facility, area or property owned, used or operated by any municipal, county or state government, or instrumentality thereof, for recreational purposes.

Neither of these are exactly like Kentucky.

Another known problem for travelers on Interstate highways is that there are places (I saw 2 in my recent trip through TN, both construction zones) where the flow of traffic is 25+ MPH greater than posted speed limits. Outside of construction zones the traffic seems to be pretty much 75-85 and often the locals seem to pay no attention to 55, 60 or 65 zones. All these situations are a set-up for speed traps.

It seems that both TN and NC state troopers were targeting out of state cars in their Interstate speed traps, so we took the slow roads on our trip back home.

OK, maybe they do target you and its just random chance that of the half dozen or so cars I saw pulled over in TN most were out of state, despite out-of-staters having a smaller percentage of cars in traffic. Or maybe you're Black or you drive a red Mustang or you drive faster than the rest of the pack or you have one of those plastic 'tag protectors' that is designed to obscure the numbers so ticket cams won't read them?

Maybe locals seem to know more of the speed traps, know the cops and know what is allowable in a given stretch of road? In my experiance the police on Interstates target 'different' and the Interstate traffic situations often set up the out of state driver to be both 'different' and speeding.

Take it easy Meek . No its a white conv. mustang with the black stripes up the hood. I always thought they targeted out of state drivers because there's less chance of out of staters coming back and fighting it in court. Just pay the ticket and forget about it.

Right. I don't suppose Tennessee is worse than the other states. Never been ticketed there myself but I am entirely dull. You'd never catch me even staying close to a mustang. ;) Actually I brought this up becasue he said she would be going the Interstates.

Keeping legal as far as CCW goes plus being careful on the Interstate is a good idea. Here is another website which discusses speed traps. (There are a bunch of them in TN.) http://www.beartraps.com/
