Question regarding CZ75B Military (Turkish)

I'm planning to order a couple of CZ75B's for myself and my father-in-law. I can get the Turkish military version (a production overrun, I believe) for a little less than the current commercial pistols. The price difference isn't great. I know the grips on the military version aren't well-liked, but is there ANY other difference or reason not to get the Turkish military version?

I've read a lot of posts about these pistols over the past months, and I thought I remembered that these pistols came with cheesy glow-in-the-dark sights that aren't properly regulated (shoot consistently high or low-I don't remember which). But in tonight's search I can't find any mention of this. Is my memory failing? If the grips are the only difference, I'll probably order the military versions. Sorry if this has been covered before - I just can't seem to find the info. Thanks.

All I can do is give you my take on my CZ75B Turk overrun. I see nothing wrong with the sites, the gun shoots to point of aim. Best groups I have managed so far have measured 1" at 20yds firing two handed without a rest. The grips are a so so issue. Most of my shooting has been done with the cheesy ones that came with the gun (the 1" group that I fired was with these grips), but I have changed to the standard plastic grips that CZ offers for $8. I don't know what you will pay for this gun, but I paid $299, and feel I got a lot more than I paid for. I even like the polymer finish, which is supposed to be extremely durable and corrosion resistant, and to top it off the steel underneath is parkerized. I would never hesitate to recomend a military version CZ.

Hey. I will tell you what I can.
Some people say the mil" version only went through QC once instead of twice. The grips are different, I find them comfy but they have a rep. for getting slippery. It has the black poly coating. Thats it...its the same gun as the 75 B' and as far as I know all CZ's have 3 dots with glow in the dark paint on them.

What are you paying for them? Also, alot of people lately have
purchased the Mil' version gun and it has 99 stamped on the slide. The real Mil ended in 96 and CZ made a standard version
of the mil. Basically, changed the grips on a poly 75 B' and thru
in a hi cap mag. I would get one...pricing appears to be going up.

Shoot well

I really like mine, the only thing I changed was the plastic grips, got the factory checkered rubber ($18) and it fits my hand just right. The plastic "ambi" were a bit too thick for me. Other wise the pistol is working very well for me, I'm finally (after 700 rounds or so) shooting it ok, which is more my lack of recent shooting history than any fault of the gun!
Get one and you won't be sorry.

My experience mirrors Rob96. Mine is also very accurate. It'll shoot <1.5" at 25 yds (I've managed to do it a few times off-hand slow fire) and the sights came well regulated re up-down. I had to drift the rear a bit, as it shot abt 1" to the right at 25 yds, but that's not very much. It's just a frighteningly accurate gun for the $.

The machining finish inside the slide is just a bit rougher than on my 85 Combat, but nothing you can see on the exterior. I liked the polymer finish enuf to get it on my 85; it's very tough. Make sure you get a 15 rd mag with the mil version ; I've seen a few new ones at gun shows with 2 tens, the dealer having pulled the 15. I put the $8 plastic grips on mine so that it was the same feel as my 85 (I shoot thme in IDPA), but the mil version was ok. Buy a bunch of 15 rd FACTORY mags while they're still available. They run $41-49 from Phil at http://pdmall.com/CZC/cz~1.htm , CZ itself or CDNN.

The CZ Connection is notorious for ripping you off by not giving you the 15-round factory pre-ban magazines that come with the CZ-75B, then selling the mags separately at a mark-up.

As I have posted earlier, if the proverbial excrement hits the fan and I have 15 minutes to lock and load, I am taking the CZ75B con High Caps and the Beretta AL390 12 Gauge in Advantage Camo with 24" Barrel.

CastleBravo - Yeah, you definitely have to make sure that Phil at CZ Connection has the 15 rd in the box. Part of the problem is that if you go in his store or see him at the show and ask to buy a 15 rd mag, he'll pull one from a box if he doesn't have one on hand. His place is a mess, and I think it's inadvertant at least some of the time. I've seen some CZ Police models he's had for sale at shows w/2 15 rd mags in them, so at least some of them are intact. If you get a 15 rd mag with the matte finish, tho, it was a mil box pull. OTOH, I've bought a number of factory 15's from him for $40-41, so at least that price is pretty good.
