Question regarding CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical night sights

I have a CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical and the front Tru Dot night sight keeps dimming. I have sent it into CZ once already to have the sight replaced, just to have it go very dim within 2 years. It's less than half the brightness of the rear sight.

I was looking at other night sights, specifically a front and rear Trijicon ( model CZ02) set, but I have read a few places where the Trijicon set throws off the aim. Is there an issue with the front sight height? Is there something you have used on your CZ 75/CZ 75 SP-01 with no issues and recommend?

Thanks and Happy New Year!

edit: to clarify front and rear sight purchase

I have used Trijicon night sights on a bunch of different pistols over the years. I like em.

No direct experience with your gun but i would be cautious about mixing different makers front and rear sights. In other words go with the same maker front and rear.

A slight difference in sight hights will make a difference downrange. Unless you can measure the hight you have and match it exactly the POI will change

Hey Sharkbite,

Sorry if I didn't clarify. If I get sights, I will go with a set (not just the front). Sorry if I caused confusion.

Ahhh...

No worries then. A new set of Trijicon sights should be good to go for about 7-8 years. After that i notice a big difference in usability.

If you compare a new set with a set that is just 4-5 years old you will see the difference. But in actual use...about 7-8 years

I would call CZ and complain. Tritium has the same half-life, or should, regardless of manufacturer. Sounds like you keep getting older front sights that are already getting close to the end.

Just called CZ USA in KC. They said they have no control over the quality of the Tru Dot night sights and that they just install them. He said send in the slide and they will replace the night sights free of charge and send it back to me.

I'll give this one more try before moving to a different set of night sights.

Thanks for your responses.

Yellow and orange tritiated sights have a significantly shorter lifespan for some reason than the green ones. Perhaps because the phosphorescent lining of the vial is less efficient? As far as I know, Tru Dot only makes green sights for CZs.

Tru Dots are made by Meprolight. Meprolight has seemingly always had a close relationship with CZ pistols. They're generally good products. Best of luck with the more recent set you get.
