Question - Problem with BATF license

My husband applied for a Collector of Curios and Relics License from the BATF on March 13th of this year. As of yet, we still haven't gotten it. I have called BATF twice, and they say that they have replaced the people that handle that and are very backed up. However, they weren't too backed up to cash our check just 2 weeks after they received it. Has anyone else had these problems? Who should I b**** to in order to get things moving? It's been almost 3 months now.

If I remember correctly it took me 5-6 months to recieve mine and I don't believe they were backed up,just took them that long.
I would say if they cashed the check the investigation is underway. No matter how long getting my C&R license was worth the wait :)

I never checked to see when the check cleared, but it took several months for me to get mine about 5 years ago. I'm sure it'll be along...

Blu,
I believe I can top your husband's situation w/ the BATF.
On March 15th, I mailed in my application for a C&R license to the Atlanta office, by certified mail. To date, I have not received my C&R, nor has my check been cashed.
I have called twice, only to be told that "these things happen sometimes...", and "I'm sure your paperwork is here somewhere...".
When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was put on hold and left there until I got disgusted and hung up.
The second time I called, it was suggested that I "wait a little longer and something might turn up", or I could re-apply and, of course, send in another check.

I think their total indifference bugs me the most. Somehow it's MY fault that their book-keeping/records are so screwed. Grrr...
So I either wait and hope for a miracle, or pay $25 to stop payment on a $30 check!
I just love dealing with the Feds...
<end of rant>

I hope your situation resolves itself quicker than I think mine's going to.
We'll probably laugh about all of this when we meet in Springfield, in August.
Anyway, I hope we can...

Hang in there, it'll show up, that's just the way they are. It took over four months for mine, :( It's worth the wait though. When you find out just how much it helps out, & start ordering you'll forget what a PITA it was to get,,,, well, almost :). R

Mine took 9 weeks. got it in mid apr/00, i applied early feb/00. not sure why it has taken months for everyone else.

Blueyedog - Sounds like business as usual to me. Mine took about 4 months to arrive. They also cashed my check a scant 7 days after it was sent.

Tell your hubby to hang in there. It will come.

They must be gettinb bogged down..
I applied Sep 15 1999 and got it Oct 1 1999....

and yet every time I have to use a regular FFL for non-C&R firearms I get delayed!!!!

Applied for my C&R 1 March, still no word. I don't know if my payment was cashed, as it was a money order.

ATF is as efficient as any other government operation.
