Question on the CZ 75b

All CZ 75B guns are the same. The "civilian" version comes in a few different external finishes - enamel, blue, etc.

CZ had a contract to make guns for the Turkish military. This "military" version comes in the enamel finish. They made more guns then needed, and these overruns were sold off as "military" guns.

There is no real difference except for price. The Turkish overrun guns are generally cheaper than the civilian version. The Turkish guns also have glow in the dark sight paint (not true "night sights"), I don't think the "civilian" version has this. I've never heard that the civilian guns were any better in fit and finish or accuracy. After all, they were all made out of the smae parts made from the same machinery.

Now if you can find an older CZ 75 version of this gun (the older version before an extra internal safety was added), they are considered to be "better" guns by many. Also, the CZ 85B has been described as having a little extra work added to improve the trigger.

FWIW, I have a CZ 75B military model that I'm very happy with.

Good information except for the part about the enamel finish. Some CZs have been finished with enamel in the past but the 75Bs never were. There were complaints about the enamels lack of durability so CZ switched to what they refer to as their Polymer finish. This finish is black powdercoating over mil spec parkerizing. Very rust resistant and durable. Also don`t forget the Mil. comes with 1 10rd. and 1 factory hi cap instead of 2 10rd. mags like the civilian 75Bs,that is unless you`re getting the gun super cheap or someone swiped the hi cap to sell it seperately. ;) Marcus

CZ Finishes

Marcus is right about the enamel. That I know of there are at least 7 CZ finishes.

1. Painted and baked enamel on the earlier versions

2. Dull matte gray for a small run in the late 1980s

3. Blued

4. Polished blued

5. Cheap polymer

6. High quality polymer

7. Nickel

The best in terms of durability and ease of care is the latest polymer.
