Question on selling a rifle in NJ

Hi all. My first post here. I have a question about selling a rifle in NJ. It was my fathers gun and Just got passed down to me as he passed last year.
Anyway I don't even know what model or brand or even caliber it is as I did not see any particular markings on it. I'll try to get some pics up of it and maybe someone can ID it. My dilemma is that I don't have a fire arms permit or anything. Actually I don't think I can even get one in NJ because as a youngster (20 years ago) I made some foolish decisions and have a record as a result. So my question is can I legally sell this gun? And to whom and how? Can I just sell it on Craigslist? Or should I try a Gun store? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

Most of the time, your childhood issues go away at 18.
having said that, there are stipulations for selling a gun that was left to you.

I would avoid the paper, and BS and goto a shop, explain to them, let them sell it for you.

Unfortunately I missed that 18 year old exemption by about a year. But I have been behaving ever since.

Here are some pictures I took of it.

Hard to tell much but it looks like a decent hunting rifle. Look it over, there will be a caliber and a manufacturer's name maybe under the scope.

As far as selling it, depends on your local laws. But even a convicted felon who receives a firearm as a bequest can legally sell it absent any state or local restrictions on receiving it. Ask at a local gun shop about the law. Just know a shop will probably give you about 1/2 of what it's really worth retail.
