So I have this Savage 29. I wanted one for a long time, and I bought this about a year ago. I held out for an original unmolested 29. I love the gun, but I have yet to shoot it. Lately, I have gotten the itch to shoot it. I know this may seem like a stupid question, but I am wondering if it is safe or even a good idea to use 22 high velocity rounds in it. I ask because I have about 3 full cases (not bricks, cases: a case is 10 bricks) of federal blue box 22 high velocity. The gun has a 4 digit SN so I imagine it to be maybe 1929/1930?
Here are some pics. Its a pretty neat rifle.
I have always liked their logo. (Of course, no offense meant to Native Americans)
