Question on PTR91k wooden stock set. Help shortening handguards?

I've found that you can purchase wooden stock sets for PTR91 rifles, however, they only fit the full length rifles. I'm interested in getting the shorter models the PTR91k, how difficult would it be to shorten or modify the foregrip (The only issue really, it's just too long for the carbine models)

Has anyone tried this before? If so, how much do you think it would cost to hire someone to perform this job on the hand guards? I have no experience in wood craft, and I really like the look of wood furniture on the G3 variant rifles.

It would really not be all that hard, as longas you have at least some proficency with hand tools. G3 wood forearms are cheap you can buy 2 in case you mess up on. The process would just be time consuming. You would have to cut the forarm shoter and make sure that the metal cap that is on the forestock is compatable with your G3k triple frame. As long as it locks in place all you have to do is reprofile that shortened forearm in order for it the accept the shortened wood.
