Question on PA-63, can use some help

Hi, grabbed a PA-63 9x18 as a glovebox gun, mainly because I had some ammo left over from my makarov, and have a question on it. When I rack the slide on the pistol, it goes back to single action position(like it should) BUT>...........when I use the decocker, the hammer appears to drop safely, but the trigger stays in single action position. When I take the gun off safe and decock again, the trigger returns to the double action position. I may be thinking wrong, but I recall all my other guns I have had with decockers return the trigger to double action during as soon as I put it on safe. Is this normal for the hungarian guns.

Thanks, Opie

Yes, its normal. I have the FEG APK, which is a cousin to your PA-63. It is working exactly as it should.

Normal manual of arms is:

-Insert loaded mag
-Rack slide to chamber a round
-Apply safety to drop hammer. Leave safety down (safe)
-Holster.

Note the trigger is back, so if it snags on something, it is not going to activate anything. Its back.

When you are ready to use the pistol, then

-Draw
-Safety up. The trigger springs forward to activate.
-Shoot DA.
-Shoot SA.

If time permits, or if I'm at the range shooting for accuracy, I will thumb-cock the hammer for the first shot and shoot everything SA.

But be sure to train for the DA first shot. If you ever need the pistol in an emergency, you'll most likely be taking that first shot DA. You need to be familiar with it.
