Question on M1A scope mounts

The third generation Springfield Armory M1A scope mount requires installation of a substitute charger guide. I prefer to keep the GI charger guide on my M1A but I also want to scope the rifle. Are there any M1A scope mounts available that don't require removal of the GI charger guide?

Thanks,

There are older mounts which don't require replacing the charger guide. However, these mounts will not be as secure as the newer mounts and therein lies the tradeoff. You may be compromising reliability and accuracy in favor of keeping a charger clip; something of dubious value in a detachable magazine fed rifle.

Well, the first generation Springfield mounts and I think the B-square mounts allow you to keep the clip guide. Problem is that the mount is going to sit over the top of the guide anyways so you're not going to use it anyways. Also, the single point mounts don't hold their zero worth a damn. I had a 1st Gerneation then went to the 3rd Generation mount until I finally had my fill of the cheap mounts, bit the bullet and went with a Brookfield and haven't looked back since.

If you do it right, you can locate the hole position for the mount and just drill and tap your existing strip clip guide.

Then when you dismount the scope, you still have the guide.

*oops* Does the SA GenIII mount use a bolt going sideways into an overpriced replacement strip clip guide? I'm referencing a 1980s design which may be different from theirs...

Cheapo, your idea sounds like the best if done right. So, B-Square or a first generation SA mount for the easy answer.
