Question on Henry Rifle

I purchased a new Henry .22 long rifle Golden Boy (GB231853), a few months back to use in competition. The rear sight is off center from the factory. It shoots good groups, but far to the left. I emailed Henry twice and left a phone message. No reply from them. The dealer, Pistol Parlor of Mesa AZ, tells me it is not their problem and to go to Henry for an adjustment! Any suggestions on how to get this gun up to speed through Henry Arms? I hate to drop good money after bad on a new gun. Thanks, rapidroy63

Henry

A small Brass Hammer or Brass Drift pin you can tap the sight base until it is centered or zeroed, what ever comes first. Move the rear sight the way you want the bullet to go.

The people who built the rifle assumed the customers who buy their products would know how to zero the rifle.

That is why they make no effort to zero them at the factory.

Also since everyone's eyes are different if they took the time to zero the rifle for them there is no guarantee it would be zeroed for you.

There is no such thing as a permanent zero for everyone with iron sights on a rifle.

Different eyes, different positions, different light and different ammo changes your zero.

It is true I have been surprised at how "far off center" some rear sights have been on some Henry rifles. However, in each case, a careful tapping has placed the rear sight where it should have been from the factory. Oddly enough, there remains a couple cases where the rear sight looks like it is way off center. But the bullet placement for my particular purposes for those rifles are spot on.

I wonder what sort of "competition" he plans on using this rifle in if he does not even know the basics of using and zeroing iron sights?

I suspect the OP might be *gasp* a novice when it comes to irons. I bet half the hunters out there don't own a single gun with irons...

I'm not sure what kind of competition it would be, but people have to start somewhere...
