Question on 9mm practice ammo

Iam just curious which grain bullet would be best suited
for Range practice ? 115 Grain Or 147 . I assume that
115 Grains would be less wear on the Gun ?

I would use the 115 grain load. It would be more consistent with what I would carry on the street. Black Hill remanufactured 9mm is excellent quality practice ammo.

If the ammo is loaded to SAAMI specs (most major factory, US manufactured ammo is.), there should be little difference in the wear put on the gun from one load to another (unless it's +P).

My defense load is the 124 grain Hydra-shok. The 115 and 124 grain, 9mm FMJ loads have very close to the same recoil and point of impact.

For range practice sessions, I use quality, mostly US manufactured ammo. I buy whichever I can get the best price on from among these choices:

Federal American Eagle, 115 or 124 grain FMJ, NATO Ball M882.

Speer Lawman, 115 grain FMJ.

Winchester White Box, 115 grain FMJ

Fiocchi, 115 grain FMJ

I would not use any "range reloads" or lead-bullet ammo.

BRASS CASES RELOADABLE AMMO ONLY, PLEASE (or pick up your friggin Blazer cases)

Suggest starting at BOTTOM of price ladder and and working upward in price until YOUR SPECIFIC requirements are met.

147's do have more recoil to 'em, at least in my pistol. So I would get 115's just to have a more pleasant shooting experience.

i usually use 115gr or 124gr jhp defense loads, i'm going through a trial period now with the ranger talon 127gr +p+ which is our new duty issue...we qualify and carry the same ammo

for my own practice, i've been shooting PMP 115gr fmj which i picked up for the same price as russian 7.62x39mm...so it hardly makes sense to reload. it's not mil-surp but their commercial stuff
