Question: Is it good to keep a pistol in the Holster 24/7?
I purchase a good holster, PRO CARRY HD, Quality Gun Leather.
Will keeping the SS Pistol in the Holster 24/7 damage the pistol?

Thanks For Your Feedback,

For the most part and a few good reasons, it is not a good idea. You really have to keep an eye on them, especially in leather, any leather. ... ;)

Be Safe !!!

No, John Bianchi...

Short answer; no.
Dust, lint, grit, sweat-water, will or could cause problems.

Bianchi-Intl(now a part of Safariland) was started by a ex-cop & military veteran named John Bianchi. He wrote useful guide to cops & gun owners re: leather care/firearms carry/storage.
See: www.bianchi-intl.com .

The book is insightful & the tips are good for any armed professional/license holder.

My EMP has pretty much lived in a Bianchi 100 since the day I bought it.

It is not damaged in any way.

There is some wear on the edges, but nothing that would affect function.

Wrap pistol with Wax Paper, wax facing away from the pistol.
place pistol with the wax paper in holster for one day....I undersdtand this part.
so what will happen if I just leave the pistol with the wax paper in the holster
24/7? Since I don't use the pistol that much?

Thanks for you time and replies,

shouldazagged...do what?

shouldazagged...do what? Ionly asking a simple question...is it OK to leave my pistol in the holster 24/7? And I waiting to hear back from forum members with replies...that's all.

The reason you put the paper (I typically use a plastic bag) around the handgun and slip it all into the holster is to allow the holster to stretch a small amount (we are talking the thickness of the material wrapped around your handgun here) to allow a tight but yet proper fit. You want your holster to retain the firearm....you don't want it dropping out if you hop, skip, run, fall down, etc. Stretching the holster, for a day, is a method to get a firm fit between holster and handgun.

What we all understand !!!

I understand that part
Well, most replies have already stated that it is not a good idea and some have listed why. Now then, another good reason, is that some leather is tanned with chemicals and salts, such as acid-tan process. These chemicals like to eat metal and your metal will not be the exception .... ;)

A few weeks back, a friend of mine got a new rig for his Ruger Blackhawk, white grips and all. He has it displayed and you bet, it looks awesome. He asked this same question and I have given him the same answer. I told him to routinely monitor it's condition in order to head off any problems. We all understand that it's your gun and you are certainly welcome to store it any way you want. ......

Just be watchful and;
Be Safe !!!

As long as a person realizes that you still must "Care" for a pistol and not simply leave it in a leather holster for years... It should be fine. I wouldnt lose any sleep over it.

My Glock is a tool, I use it everyday...most days it's dirty but serviceable...it lives in its holster until its needed. Does it hurt it? Mat that I can tell...beats being kicked under the seat of my truck or falling out the door when I get out of the truck.
