question for the slide of Sig 226?

I have a Sig 226 (9mm). I bought it two years ago and it was NIB at that time. As I cleaned it, I noticed if I put the slide upright on a smooth even table, the rails are NOT in even position (not touch the table from end to end). The slide will have a little play (with the table). However, it functions flawlessly and pretty accurate.

Is that normal? Does that happen to your Sig 226 slide too.

Hmmm, I think your dust cover is the culprit. :)

Seriously though, The P226 I normally shoot has a very tiny bit of rock between the front and back of the flat portion of the slide. Hardly noticeable. This feature (the bottom of the slide below the sliderails), however, is not a very critical part of the slide. It's slight uneveness will affect nothing. The only part that touches the surface, at least in my gun, is the disconnect hump of the action bar and the slide stop when the mag goes empty. The difference in dimension between where the disconnect hump touches the slide when at full battery to the disconnect notch in the slide is so small that it would have no effect in the disconnector's operation. It will have no effect on accuracy or function.
