Question for the Remington 870 experts

I had the trigger group (plastic) removed while cleaning my 870 Express and I accidently pulled the trigger causing the hammer to fall all the way. I know all the instructions basically say "be sure to keep the safety on and do not pull the trigger when the trigger group is removed". So, what will this damage and what should I look for? I can't see anything out of place and it seems to function fine.

Once won't hurt anything, just don't keep doing it. Make sure that you have the hammer cocked when you install the trigger group.
 
You were lucky. Sometimes doing that can either break things, cause parts to spontaneously disassemble themselves, or both. It isn't something you want to make a habit of doing...
