Steve,
Mark Lee's most recent post regarding his Les Baer nightmare has me curious about the components used to build Les Baer 1911s.
I see from Mark's post that you're a former Baer gunsmith. That being the case I would like to ask if you can verify the source of Baer's frames and slides?
I've read on various posts that these frames and slides are anywhere from the best available to junk simply too soft for a good 1911. Some claim that Baer and Rock River Arms source their frames and slides from the same place. Is this true?
I currently own a Baer SRP and while I'm happy with it so far, I'm wondering what to expect in the longevity department. I figured Baer didn't literally make his own frames and slides. I just want to put the rumor mill to bed on this.
Thanks,
DR
