for those who ever had to "qualify" with a snubbie what size of group and from what range(s) where the minimums? How many practice rounds would it take to keep this up?? Just curious....thanks,

Chris

"what size of group"

Same as our duty weapon. Hits must be within what use to be the 8 ring on a silhouette target and up to the head. Area is the center of target roughly 4" in on each side. Shots outside that area don't count.

"and from what range(s)"

Out to 25 yds. Most rds fired at 10 and 15 yds.
Course of fire involves firing and reloading under time, strong and weak (off) hand, 2 hand, and all drawing from holster.

"where the minimums?"

50 rds fired. I can't recall the % needed. Use to be 350 minimum. I've never really worried about minimum as every year I've fired a possible on the course.

" How many practice rounds would it take to keep this up??"

Practice? I shoot the BUG year rd. I never thought of any of it as practice.

How much practice is needed depends on each person, gun, & load; and on how good they want to be.

One rough estimate of how good we might need to be is the following scenario:

You come home from buying groceries and someone is holding your loved one hostage, using them as a shield. This thug is smart and you only have about half of his head as a target. You are convinced the thug is about to start shooting you. And then do who knows what to everyone else......

How far away can you make this shot? The longest distance inside our home is about 35'....

This has happened and probably will again. If not to you then great. Or maybe all your thugs will be stationary, completely exposed, and there are no innocent bystanders standing around to worry about.

If we are really lucky this won't happen to any of us.

Off my soapbox.
