Question for CZ experts...

Not to my knowledge. I think it's just that some people put the "CZ-75" in front of it, even though it's not part of the official name. I've seen people do the same with the P-07 and P-09. They're part of the CZ-75 family, in that they're based on it, but it's not part of the model name. I.e. CZ P-01, CZ P-07, etc..

Same gun -- using the FULL OFFICIAL NAME or the more common "nickname". (It may represent a new Official Name. But it's the same gun.)

On the CZ website, they once called the P-01 the CZ-75 P-01, and now they call it the P-01. (CZ made some minor production changes, and dropped the NATO Serial Number from newer versions -- and that may have prompted them to change their nomenclature at the same time.)

There's also a new P-01 Omega, which is the same basic gun with a slightly different fire control system. The Omega system in this version of the P-01 is user changeable from decocker to safety (or vice versa).

As I understand it, this new, simpler system has a better trigger out of the box, but either version is quite good when tuned by someone who knows what they're doing. The older (traditional) style trigger breaks-in nicely after several hundred rounds.

I bought a used P-07, and it's got a GREAT trigger.

CZ P 09 .40

My next pistol will be the SP 01..I got the CZ P 09 in .40, it shoots very good. Magazines are $50.00 each wherever you look. I liked the full size P 09 better than the p 07.. my opinion.., it fit my hands like a precision tool almost. It was $385.00 at Bud's Gun Shop and $479.00 at the gun show, I discovered that after I paid $479.00. Accuracy is way more than I thought. Loading 4.2 grains of Titegroup on 180 grn extreme bullets..Average velocity was 948 fps.
