Question for C.R. Sam

Hey, Sam:

You've mentioned a time or two that you don't like stainless revolvers, with which, by the way, I've had absolutely no trouble.
But you said that you'd used blued guns in the tropics with no trouble.

If it isn't prying too much, where in "the tropics" did you carry which blued guns? What oil did you use? Was rain or cloud forest involved, or mangrove swamps or other salt air environments?

How often did you clean/oil those guns?

This isn't to argue with you; I'm just wondering what was involved and why you don't seem to have had to fight rust too much where one would expect it to be a constant threat. I'm looking for information, not a squabble. You seem to have the most knowledge on this board. I respect your posts, and hope to learn something here.

Thanks,

Lone Star

I dunno where in the tropics he usedta was, but sam has said MANY times that a "Rig Rag" (a piece of wool impregnated with RIG) was his preferred method of blued-steel protection...

(RIG = Rust Inhibiting Grease) - THIS STUFF WORKS!!!!!!

My unit had parked S&W mod 15 revolvers and never had significant problems in all environments.
Car wax will go a long way to prevent rust.
