Question concerning age restrictions.

I am 18 years old and live in Kenosha, Wisconsin. I was wondering if my dad could purchase a handgun for me, and me be able to legally carry it (secured in a lock- box) to a gun range I attend.

For situations such as this, you'll be much better informed if you just contact your local police department. While there are many members here who have plentry of helpful information to offer, it's best to get it from your local authority. I wouldn't just take someone's word for anything (online) in reguards to YOUR OWN local gun laws/regs.

Yeah, wow, I cannot even see the age at which you are able to buy one. NRA says over 18 for a firearm, but that doesnt seem definitive enuff for me.

Defo take KUHIO's advice, contact local authorities, possible state attorneys.

IMO, WI sux for gun owner, no right to carry at all.

IMO

As long as your Father remain the lawful owner of the weapon, you should be able to take it to the range in a separate compartment (which require you to leave the vehicle to obtain it).
The weapon should not be loaded (no ammo in mag), and you should comply & disclose with the LEO at all time.

Not sure it's the perfect answer, the best way to figure it out is to send the state's AG a letter or contact your local's LE Agency! (I totally agreed with KUHIO & Naterstein)

:).

I have to disagree with one thing...

asking your local police force any gun law questions is about as silly as you can get... more of a gamble than asking this list.

I think asking the question here or in a more selective group on the internet will work... the people that really know the answer and want to help will reference the specific state laws for you to check.

You might want to try this question in the General Questions section too.

i believe you have to have a foid card, and as long as the gun is secure in a lock box with bullets out of sight, well i dont know if its legal but i do it.
it can only be to and from your local range though
