Question about Winchester Customer Service?

I have a Winchester 1300 shotgun that was purchased in 1989. It has a 28" vent rib barrel...and the vent rib is loose. It has never been abused...in fact, I have taken very good care of it. The only reason I noticed the vent rib was loose is because it started moving forward toward the muzzle.

Anyway, does anyone have experience with Winchester's customer service? If so, how good is it? Do you think that they will fix this problem with no charge to me or am I dreaming? I will call them tomorrow, but wanted to have some info today...thanks.

Dount they will fix it for free from 1989, it might be somehting you can fix though

I agree with Wild on a free fix, though Winchester has great service, and have been known to surprise folks.

Does the rib slide forward ~ 1/4" to as much as 3/4" ?

This is something I have had happen on SX1s and seen occur on other shotguns with vent ribs even from other mfgs.

On mine, gunsmith "pinned" the rib in 3 places.

Drilled small holes into side of vent rib, and into supports off the bbl. Insert a "pin" , burnish , finish out and never a problem again.

Just be sure to have a competent gunsmith do this. This was not uncommon to see, and most folks had the gunsmith "pin" these upon purchase of the new guns known - or prone to have occur. Mom&Pops just tossed this in as part of the Customer Service they did.
