question about SIG P226 safety block?

Can someone please explain what the following text about the SIG P226 means?

"...many safety features: the decocking lever and patented automatic firing pin safety block, which eliminates the need for an external manual safety and allows the pistol to be always ready for use."

Specifically, the automatic firing pin safety block?

Why would that eliminate the need for a manual safety?

Thanks,

hjm

"always ready for use" refers to the ability to carry with a chambered round

the automatic firing pin block prevents the firing pin from moving forward unless the trigger is not only tripped but also held to the rear.

the though is that even it the hammer is released (commonly prevented by the manual safety) and falls forward the gun will not fire as the firing pin is still held in place.

your trigger finger becomes your manual safety (or should i say...is always your manual safety) :p
