Question About S&W Revolver "Action Jobs"

I've done a few "action jobs" on my own S&W revolvers, with mostly good results...one thing I have NOT done, but would like to try, is to polish the INSIDE of the rebound slide-where the rebound spring resides. Anyone have any suggestions on how to best accomplish this? Thanks in advance....mikey357

A piece of wooden dowel that is a snug fit.

Oil it lightly, then roll it in lapping compound. Or just use fine valve grinding compound.

Insert and rotate, taking care not to elongate the opening.

You can lap it as Mike suggests or simply slit a small dowel and use 400 or 600 grit paper. If you have a milling machine, you can also mill a wide shallow slot in the back, front, and top of the rebound slide to cut down the sliding surfaces and reduce friction.

VictorLouis,

I can't answer for Jim, but the last 2 new Smith's I've bought have cuts already in them. These are the ones with the MIM parts.
