This past year, I've been taking more of an interest in all of the parts of my firearms, their interactions, and the overall mechanics.
So, when firing or dry firing the Makarov, and not releasing the trigger, the hammer stays in the cocked position after the slide returns to battery (as it should). However, when I had the slide off, and was checking out the interaction of the trigger bar, sear, hammer, I noticed when I pull the trigger to move the sear, the hammer drops, as expected. However, if I keep pressure on the trigger and try to manually pull the hammer back again, it does not stay in the cocked position, because the trigger bar is keeping the sear forward. So what difference is going on when the slide is on?
