Question about my Ithaca SKB 200E

Hi guys; just found this forum. Looks like I might spend some time here.
I have two questions:
1. I bought the gun for $600. It is in near perfect shape; barrels are like mirrors. Was it a good deal?
2. Can I shoot steel out of this gun? I love to waterfowl hunt, but buying bismuth/tungsten is SO expensive. I think the chokes are modified and IC.
Thanks guys!

You THINK the chokes are what they are?? Need to be sure before shooting steel for waterfowl. SKB's are great guns - own two myself, but mine have choke tubes, so I can modify them for the given situation........

$600 for an SKB 200E is a steal.

I would not be surprised if it was choked Mod/Full. Don't shoot steel through it, you might ring the barrels. If you want to try waterfowl with it, look for some tungsten/polymer shot, it is safe in the old fixed choke guns.

You did "OK" if it's a 12ga SKB 200E, and got a real steal if it's a 20ga - Which did you get ?

Did you get the standard PG model, or REALLY get a steal, and score a straight-grip Sporter ?

Those guns have chromed bores, and IIRC they were "steel shot approved" - but I could be wrong on that.

The chokes should be marked somewhere on each barrel - either in so many words or ** code, I forget (It's been about 20 years since I've owned one).

That's right. An OK not a great deal, unless it is a 20 ga.
