Question about Moon clips

Does the revolver have to be specifically designed to use moon clips or can any revolver use these.

Does the round have to be a auto round, 9mm, .45 acp etc.

Can I use moonclips in a .357 magnum, that has not be specially made. I know Jerry M. uses an 8 shot .357 and I swear he is using moon clips.

Thanks

Chris

cslinger,

The back of the cylinder and star are machined to accept the moonclips. Make sure it is done by a competent person--I would trust Clark guns which is used by TK Custom. Jerry Miculek works there and is married to the daughter.

Once the conversion is done you now have three options instead of two: moonclip, speedloader or individual rather than just speedloader or individual. The moonclip is not required for use, just an alternative.

Three of the finest revolvers made. the Smith&Wesson Models 25, 26 and 625 (all ,45ACP N frames) all used half or full moon clipsas they came from the factory. In my experience a revolver using full moon clips is the fastest revoler to reload bar none.
