Question about Mitt Romney answered...

Truth be told, the only reason I watched the debate was because of Dr. Paul. If he hadn't been included I would not have watched a Republican debate any more than I would watch a Democratic debate.

That being said, Ron Paul did very well with those who appreciate and unpleasant truth more than a soul soothing party line. He did well. He did very well. He was honest. He was forthright. He was, and is, what the President of The United States should be.

Danzig, you took the words right out of my mouth! Romney was a big "fuzzy" in my opinion, but when he so boldly announced his view against "assault weapons", he became a.....DEMOCRAT!

Sorry to say, but Dr. Ron Paul shot himself in the foot! He did NOT do well, and only HELPED Giuliani! What Dr. Paul said about AMERICA may have been what he perceived as the TRUTH, but it WASN'T....and I'll bet that he withdraws his candidacy within the next few days!

Why does he have such strong support? He's the only one that came in ahead of Ron Paul in approval? He's just a neo-con pretty boy from The People's Republic of Massachussetts.

I see 0 appeal in that guy. Maybe it's just because I'm a guy. Maybe his 29% approval comes from a bunch of women because of his looks (you know what they said about Clinton and Kennedy)

Big Hair and Tall - the American Dream.

1. He has been called on trying to sound like a Southern Baptist and avoid the more controversial aspects of his religion.

2. Claimed to be a hunter and had to admit that he maybe shot a bunny or mouse.

3. Said he didn't have premartial sex with his wife to be - let's be real - that's kind of a wussy to me. He could have said - NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS and left it at that.

4. Joins the NRA and still likes the AWB - meaning he hasn't truly studied the issue. It would be legit to say that he supported the AWB but after reading the scholarly work on it, he changed his mind.

What a piece of work. Pretty, rich boy - FRAUD!

OMGsh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mark this day somewhere!

Glenn E. Meyer and Doug.38PR have FINALLY agreed on something:o ;) :)

+1

I do not know his stance on the second amendment but overall, Tom Tancredo was extremely impressive. He was one of the only ones that spoke quickly and stuck to the question/topic being asked. He seems to actually have true conservative beliefs, he came across really nicely last night. I will definitely be keeping an eye on him in the future.

As for as "America's Mayor":barf: he only has 9/11 to stand on. No matter the question asked of him 9/11 became his reason/answer/love child. He has no policies that I feel could help the nation, only himself. He stuttered a little too much, but was quick to blame 9/11 for everything.

Mitt Romney, does he remind anyone of another recent presidential candidate (John Kerry) in the way he stands tall, smiles, and flirts with the camera? Unfortunately one of the most decisive factors for many voters is appearance of the candidate, I hope that many of the republican voters see the same two-facedness in him that Kerry exuded and steer clear.

McCain=disappointment. He just isn't what this country needs. He has changed his stance on many things way too often, and never with valid reasons, just "It felt like the right thing to do". It seems the right thing to do comes along on even numbered years for him.

Ron Paul definitely may have turned away a lot of possible voters with what he said, but I truly feel that he was speaking the truth. No matter how many times the other candidates said that the reason we were attacked was jealousy, it does not change the fact that bin Laden himself claimed in many of his recordings that we were to be driven from their holy land, we had interfered too many times with there way of life. Ron Paul was doing nothing but stating an observation when he made that remark, an observation that gave Giuliani another chance to exploit 9/11, that was all his quick retort was, exploitation like the rest of his joke of a campaign. Everytime Dr. Paul answered a question, I truly felt that he spoke for me. He was speaking my sentiments on that stage and, frankly, that would get my vote any day. Just because the media determines the candidates he may have hurt his chances last night, but he is a great candidate with excellent beliefs.

As for the rest of the crowd, nothing spectacular. A couple of them spoke like 2x4's (Tommy Thompson) and another (I don't remember a name) reminded me of a sterotypical creepy uncle. We'll just have to see from here.

kickshot,
everybody keeps saying that, but nobody has been able to explain why he started out in first place in approval and still holds 2cond place just under Romney and well above "America's Mayor"+1:barf:
One of those wannabes in the 1 digit percentage threw out a weak excuse saying it was just because "people want to be entertained" but I don't buy it.

Could be people are thinking teh same thing you adn I are. The exchange between him and Guiliani wasn't the only thing that was said. He was the only candidate that said we should get out of Iraq. He was the only one saying the Republican party has lost it's conservatives.
There is a reason the Republican's lost the House and Senate, it's because there are not enough like him anymore and people know this.
Conservative America (real America) doesn't see the Republican Party the way the Republican Party see's itself

Is there a real poll that reflects that or just the "call or text us" polls that don't exactly represent a good cross section of potential voters?

Not that I know of. But I don't know why you say
"call or text us" polls that don't exactly represent a good cross section of potential voters?
It's much easier to whip out your cell phone and hit "send" than it is to boot up a computer or call in on a landline. More convinent and hence more people participated who watched the debate

No.. I mean that when people are encouraged to call, the people that respond are different then either those that are phoned at random (and are also asked such questions as what party they associate with, etc) or those that go to the actual polls on election day.

These methods of polling tend to bring out only those that are passionate, no?

Plus, Paul would be a great candidate for people from the other side to "vote" for to make the republican race quite messy. Politics is messy. . .

These methods of polling tend to bring out only those that are passionate, no?

Well, that's true. But then you could say the same about any online poll. Only the passionate people are going to click on those polls or take the time to respond to them

I agree with that completely.

when he so boldly announced his view against "assault weapons", he became a.....DEMOCRAT!
No, he became an anti-gun republican. Just like most of them truely are...

I hope that doesn't shake the foundation of your world but republicans are no more gun friendly by default then democrats are anti-gun.

I hope that doesn't shake the foundation of your world but republicans are no more gun friendly by default then democrats are anti-gun.

The only difference being that Republicans on the national level tend not to introduce gun control, while Democrats do so even after promising that it's off the table.

That's a pretty big difference.

I heard Romney's Quote on the radio today.and said to myself " Well he just lost a lot of conservative gun owners!"

It show's he doesn't know that "supporting the 2nd Amendment" is not just about hunting and that gun ownership and the RKBA includes collecting, competition and self defense.

I shot a military match this past weekend with my AR, and somehow the thing didn't jump out of my arms and begin a violent rampage on its own!

Maybe we should have the newly converted Jim Zumbo talk to him, since his eyes are now open.

Gee and I thought little Mitt might be a good guy since he's changed his position on every issue under the sun. Wait til next week - his position will be different.
