Question about M&P15 and sights

Hi guys..

I recently get the bug for the ar15 world.. and as you know the more you read the more confused you get..

I am not a leo/military/security.. so the rifle is not for duty.. instead it is for some training, drill, competition..

I have been reading and there are many options.. about the M&P 15 are many options too. for example mp15A,mp15x, mp15or, mp14 sport,mp15 moe...

so basically my doubt is, the main difference between those models is the external accessories like handguard, sights..? the twist is the same 1:9, I think all of them have forward assistant..

the mp15A cost like 1000$..but in the other hand I saw the colt 6920 in $1000 + or -.. and there are some mp15 with more accessories.. but it is better to buy the basic colt or the mp15 with some extras?

in the other hand, I am left eye dominant and right handed and I've read about using the RDS so I dont have to learn to shoot with the my right weak eye or left handed..

based on that, what kind of front sight is better, the standard A2 or any flip up sight?

the M&P is a great ar, a buddy of mine has one and has had zero problems. I have a Colt 6940 and could not be happier. As far as sights are concerned that is all a personal preference. If you had the standard A2 front sight post, you could buy a flip up rear. When you get proficient shooting with irons you could buy a used aimpoint. I say used because you can find some really good deals on basically an indestructable sight that may have minor blemishes cosmetically but are mechanically sound and built like a tank. Dont read into all of the brand "X" is the only way to go and brand "z" is sh-t..ALL brands are succeptable to mechanical failure, although some have fewer problems than others, just stick to the major manufacturers..

Your question seems to be more about which brand and what extras to buy. I own a Smith & Wesson M&P 15FT. There are 2 versions of this model #. The SKU # is SKU 811004. I bought it N.I.B. on Gunbroker for $999 from a sporting goods store in WA, 'Hooked On Toys'. This rifle has a $1709 retail price from S&W. Most gun dealers are selling it in the $1500 range. You can't buy a nicer equipped AR 15 5.56 for what this one offers

It has since been slightly modified. See picture below:
