Iam just qurious i have never shot a 40 cal before .
I have shot a Glock 45 and Glock 17 9mm . Is their much
of a difference in recoil between the 40 cal and 45 ?
Thanks

Not much of a difference. The .40 is a little snappier/sharper, but the .45 has more overall recoil (its a heavier "push"). In Glocks, I like the way the .45 recoils much better. Both rounds are easy to shoot, and if you can control a .45 you should be able to control a .40.

I prefer the 45. I've had a 23 and a 21. The 45 round, to me :D, is just so versatile and easy to control.

I have a G23 and the recoil is quick and snappy but seems to come back to sight easily for me. I have put a few rounds through a G30 and it's recoil is slower and more of a strong push.

Had a G21. Prefer the G23. The recoil is snappy but for me that means it's back on target faster.

When shooting the G21 I remember waiting for the slow push to be over thinking "Are you done yet? Geez... can we move it along a little?" But what do you expect from a cartridge that old? It's like walking behind granny in her wheelchair. She takes forever but you better not get in her way.

.40 recoil is heavier than 9mm, snappier than .45 ACP. Much like the round itself, it rather splits the difference between the two more venerable chamberings.
