Question About a Trigger for a .308 AR

Hi all,

I am getting closer to having a .308 rifle finished and I'll want to eventually pull my mil. spec trigger from my lower parts kit and replace it with a custom unit. I'm kind of leaning toward one made by J.P., but have a friend who suggests I look into a modular trigger. Are there any thoughts you may have concening either type? I know the modular unit would be quite a bit easier to install.

Also, are safety selectors pretty much compatable with any trigger assemblies, or should I try to get a safety to match the trigger? I would like to think the safety is universal, but have seen a trigger kit JP makes that includes a safety assembly.

Yep.

I was wanting to see if there was any preference here for a modular trigger or for the standard set-up. I've shot a friend's .204 Ruger that he has a JP trigger in, but have never handled one from Timney or another company. Any idea of how they would compare?

As it was explained to me , the distance and parallelism of the trigger pins is extremely important to a crisp and reliable trigger , and is much easier to control in a modular unit as they use a larger dia roller bushing. Seems they tend to vary quite a bit when drilled thru the two receiver surfaces.
 
I have a factory installed JP trigger in my DPMS LR308, It is clean and crisp at about 4 1/2 lbs which suits me and the rifles intended purpose.

AR-15 triggers will work fine in the AR-10 style rifles. I replaced mine with a RRA Enhanced National Match kit. Works like a charm.
