Question about a Colt revolver

Hello to all!
I am new to this fine forum, so please forgive me if this is not the correct place to ask this question, but here goes:

I just received a Colt 357 Lawman Mark III model, nickel plated.
I know the gun is relatively "old" (about 15 years), but it appears to be in pretty good condition. Barrel length is 2".

About how much would a revolver like that be worth? Not that I plan to sell it (it's a beautiful gun, and a very nice gift), but I am interested in knowing its value. I also plan on carrying it for defense, unless it is a "collectable" model, which should be in my safe!

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!:)

NRA "pretty good" is not a listed condition for valuation.
However, a Lawman Mk III with 100% factory nickel is listed in the Blue Book at $395. Only 98% nickel? Knock off a fast $100.
A good sturdy gun to shoot, carry, and enjoy. It is at least 19 years old, they were made from 1969 to 1983. That's ok, guns don't spoil very fast.

My dad had one that was blued for awhile. I wish I would have bought it when he sold it at a gunshow. It had an excellent action and was quite accurate with 125 grain loads. It would have been an excellent carry gun.

Potentially a splendid carry gun.

Does anybody remember which speedloaders it's compatible with? It'll either be K-frame or L-frame type. L-frame speedloaders also feed Colt Pythons and the Ruger GP100, I'm thinking that's the most likely candidate...

(The "L" and "K" designations refer to S&W frame sizes. That Colt is close enough to one or the other to be speedloader compatible.)

The "L" frame loaders work, but HKS still makes a Mark III loader.

Many of HKS's loaders are the same, except for the model stamping on the release knob. The S&W "K" frame and the Colt Detective Special are the same as are the "L" frame, Python, Ruger models.
