I am not familiar with the 9x21 . Could someone give me a little insight on it? I just saw it on the beretta web sight . The model 98 comes in this cal. The 98 looks to be the same design as my 92fs .This is the first time I have heard of a mod.98 and the first time I have seen a 9x21.(I know, I know, but the little town I live in just got electricity last year)! Thanks in advance--C.L.

Hello. As I understand it, 9x21mm is the ballistic equivalent to the much more common 9x19mm. It was conceived as a rule beater in Italy where citizens are prohibited from owning "military" caliber weapons. It's just a 2mm longer 9x19 so the chambers are 2mm deeper and existing slides, frames, and magazines can be used. Best.

Mr. Camp is correct. The 9x21 was created as a European rule beater. It attained some popularity in the U. S. for a somewhat different reason. The 9x21 was used in open class IPSC guns to beat the rules that limited using 9x19 as a major caliber. I have a custom race gun in 9x21 and it is ballistically identical to a .38 super when loaded to the same OAL.
