question about 700 trigger

so from what i've read so far there is a piece in the trigger mechanism called a "connector" that is the problem that CNBC is throwing a fit about. my question is if the trigger is replaced with something like a timney, jewel, etc., does that get rid of this "problem"???

i'm asking this because i really would like a "reason" to replace this trigger anyway. i have never had any of the problems that they are talking about, and i can't make my gun malfunction like they are saying i will.

I would think the answer would be yes. A replacement trigger assembly would solve your problem. I think that is the reason Remington went with the new X-Mark Pro trigger system. I don't think they changed anything else besides what Timney gives you. I would take it as a very good excuse to spend $125 for a new Timney.

Here is how to check out your trigger:

1. Make sure the gun is not loaded.

2. Cock the bolt as if ready to fire.

3. Set the safety to ON (back)

4. Pull the trigger, hard, and release it.

5. Without touching the trigger again, move the safety to OFF (forward)

6. If the firing pin falls when the safety is moved, the gun needs repaired immediately.
