Question about 20 gauge 870 frames...

Howdy team,
Are the 20 ga. 870 frames the same size as the 12 gauge? I know they made/make an LT or LW model that is based on a small frame but what about the "normal" 20 gauge 870's?
From what I can see, the Youth Models 20 gauges look like they are built on large frames with shorter butt stocks.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Mike

Nevermind. I found the scoop in my Kuhnhausen book.
I should have read first. I am getting too dang lazy!
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

What's the answer? I have a 20ga 870 with a 20" barrel and standard length stock I picked-up 2nd hand. No owners manual for it yet.

Hi Bill,
The answer is what we call IBM's answer number 1. "It depends". :D

The short version is this:

Suffix = ....

X - Full Size Frame 2 3/4"
N - Full Size Frame 3" magnum
K - Small Frame LW 2 3/4"
or
K - Small Frame LT 2 3/4"
U - Small Frame LT 3" magnum (this must be interesting!)

This applies to all 20 ga 1100 & 870 Remingtons.

So watcha got?

Mike

U - Small Frame LT 3" magnum (this must be interesting!)

That's exactly what I have.
It's a synthetic stocked 870, full size stock with a 20" barrel that includes a RemChoke. It's a very nimble & handy shotgun.

The sad part is that I've been too busy to shoot it! :(

Early 20 gauges were built on the same frame as the 12s, and so were the 16s.

The smaller frame now used is the LW frame.
