Quest for CCW may be over . . .

So I sold the Nano did a bunch of research and still wasn't sure what to get for a CCW. About half an hour away is a bigger city with no less than three relatively large gun stores. Planned to go over there and just see what I could find. About ten minutes away is a smaller LGS/range. Stopped in just to check on reloading stuff and see what was in the case and . . . they have a Sig P238. And they have one on the rental rack too. I try out the rental. Half hour and fifty rounds later I buy the new sig. Got it for over $50 less than MSRP. Get to pick it up on Monday. Feel good about the choice. We'll see.

I picked up its larger sibling, the P938, new and have about $445 in it and am loking forward to shooting and carrying it. I have to get to the range soon to function test it, but I love the way it feels in the hand.

Congrats! I don't own one but have shot my friend's many times - an awesome little semi! My friend's functions perfectly and she is deadly accurate with it. Enjoy and let us know how you like it! :)

Dang!

I have been on the fence on this little gun for about 3 weeks.

I just bought a p239 SAS and LOVE it... So am looking at the p238 as a smaller concealable gun... in fact tomorrow I am going to the range to rent and shoot...

Since the SIG is a very close cousin to the Colt Mustang . You will enjoy shooting a very soft recoiling 380. I have 2 of the original Mustangs from the 90's . I still carry and enjoy shooting them. SIG has way better sights than my Mustang

I have looked at the SIG both in 380 and 9mm . I want the 9mm but since I have a 1951 Colt Commander 9mm ,PF-9, and a CW9 Kahr . I will just wait awhile longer :(

Prof I have both the P 938 and P238, carry the 238 off and on when not carrying 938 or G42. I love the size feel and operation of the little Sig and have fired mine a lot without incident. I carry it in an IWB holster as i am not comfortable carrying Cocked and locked in a pocket as the safety could be wiped off. My 238 is extremely accurate at the close ranges it was designed for and i feel confident using it for self defense. Now for a pocket pistol the G42 excells.

I'm not a Sig fan, but I have been hankering for a 238 lately for concealed carry. For a punky (no offence intended) little pistol, they feel really good in my hands. Much better than a lot of the subcompacts. The little Colt Mustang is also pretty nice except for the sights.

Nice choice, Prof. I am glad you had the opportunity to shoot before purchase. My wife chose the P238 for her EDC, too. Really a gem of a little pistol, IMO. Which of the cosmetic choices did you pick?

Research-Shoot-Buy-way to do it Prof! Happy for you and please keep TFL members up to date on the shooting.Best Wishes, Skeets. :D

You may think your quest is over, but it’s just beginning. In the 28 years I’ve been carrying, I’ve packed several .45s, several 9mms, a couple of .380s, two .357s, a .44 Maggie and even a .22.

The quest (and the fun) never ends!

You mean, you aren't going to be completely satisfied until you find something that will allow you to shoot bullets out of your outstretched finger tips. Even then, you'll probably want to change up calibers. :D

That's right, Doyle!

And the thing needs a heads-up red dot display built into my brain.

.72 caliber

Zero recoil.

See new post . . .

I picked up the sig and shot it. See post called "Shot new sig . . . . "

I moved majority of my nano comments to another thread. I'll just state here regarding sig 238/938s, a friend of mine has one of the latest mfg 938s and likes it a lot, no problems so far. I have a nano now and working through issues as to whether I keep it or not. I'm not concerned about it not working out for me as my backup plan is to get a P250SC and use that possibly year round if the nano ends up sucking, though it sucks to loose money on it.

I just wanted to say P938 is gtg, and after my brothers experience with P250, and me shooting his P250, I love that gun! Trigger took getting used to but once I did its extremely accurate and reliable!

Thanks
