I would love a DA .22. As the choices of new are somewhat limited, what old production ones may be worth looking for? I am personally looking for a value, but we might as will look at the upper echelon too! :D

Here are a few to consider,,,

Used upper echelon guns would include:
S&W Model 18 Combat Masterpiece (4" Barrel)
S&W Model 17 Masterpiece (6" Barrel)
Colt Trooper Mk-III (4 or 6" or 8" barrel)
Colt Diamondback (4" or 6" barrel)

New upper echelon guns would include:
Ruger SP-101
S&W Model 317
S&W Model 617
S&W Model 63
S&W Model 43C

New middle of the road guns would include:
Charter Arms Target Pathfinder (Best of this bunch IMHO)
Taurus Model 94
Taurus Tracker Model 970 or 990

There are more but this is all I can think of this morning.

I have two used 22lr double action revolvers and they're both excellent.

S&W Model 17 from 1983, 4" barrel

S&W Model 18 from 1958, 4" barrel

These tend to be pricey, but if you take your time, you'll be able to find one at a decent price. They're a lot of fun for low-cost plinking.

Pretty good list Arron.

New middle of the road guns would include:

Not so sure about the "middle of the road" list, more like a dirt road versus freeway driving with the Colts and Smiths.

The new Ruger SP-101 is middle of the road or 'B' quality versus 'A' quality on S&W and Colts.

Here's a visual reference of some of mine, Colt Diamondback, Colt Officers Model Match (Colt with 6 in barrel), S&W 34 aka 22/32 kit gun (nickel snubnose, also in 4in), S&W k-22s (3 on left) (later model 17). You really can't lose with any of these, although I think the Diamondback is over rated.
