Just got a 12 MOA Reflex II, was curious how many of you have the polarizing filter installed as a matter of course, or only for special application. i guess it would matter what time of the day/light availability, but would like to hear your thoughts. I currently do NOT have it installed.

Greetings

As far as I can tell, it's only useful in extremely bright conditions, where you might otherwise have trouble making out the amber dot. It probably has more utility with my 4.5 MOA Reflex II than your 12 MOA Reflex II.

Regards.

I have the same setup and leave the filter on the whole time. It does help prevent washout in brighter conditions. Sometimes when shooting towards a light source or a reflected one I will get washout. Especially if I use my Surefire against white walls or some other reflective surface. Often I just turn the filter all the way down so that you can't see through it. That way the triangle will stay nice and bright.

Just a thought...by using the darkest setting, you might as well have bought the OEG for 1/2 the price!

Couldn't since this was a gift from the wife. I should have defined often as about 20-35% of the time. In Oregon, we have a lot of overcast days and the filter stays all the way open then. For those "special" sunny days and night time with the Surefire is when I will close it down.

Happy 4th to all!!
